These 3 body parts are inked to cover scars.

Tattoos are done for different reasons, but these ones are drawn over scars and they tell amazing stories.

  1.  Blooming peony tattoo:

This tattoo covers scars that the owner got from self harming herself. She was sexually abused by her grandfather since she was a little child. As a result of this, she didn't feel like her body belonged to her.
In return, she wanted to damaged the parts of her body that her abuser loves so she cut herself in the breasts, thighs and ribs.
She started seeing herself as nothing more than a sex object, allowing boys abuse her.
Eventually, she got this tattoo of a blooming peony on her ribs and sternum, deciding to plant a beautiful thing where something ugly used to be.
The tattoo is still unfinished, but it gives the owner a measure of comfort as she is "taking her body back, one flower at a time.

2. Straight spine tattoo:

Spine tattoo

This tattoo was gotten to celebrate defeating scoliosis by the owner who was was diagnosed with severe scoliosis at the age of 15.
This made the spine curve at 65 degrees to the shape on an S. The condition needed surgery as it could not be corrected with a brace.
The surgery involved putting two titanium rods attached by 15 screws on each side of the spine to straighten it.
The 17 inch tattoo spans the length of the owner's back, over the barely visible scar. The tattoo is a symbol of strength and recovery.

3. Gecko tattoo:

This gecko tattoo was drawn over a scar that resulted from an appendix that exploded.
The owner's appendix suddenly exploded and it had to be removed immediately because it had been leaking toxins into her insides for months.
She spent a week at the hospital before all her insides were rid of the toxins and got this tattoo three years after.
